As the title says, I can't PvP someone it starts lagging insanely, anyone else experiencing this?

yep, when i'm around horde, i can always tell when they are beginning to attack me because the entire screen freezes for 5-60 seconds. half the time, there's still sound though...

It's not freeze, it's lag.

Try decreasing your view distance in video options, this helped me on a few servers.

all my graphics are maxed and running at 1920x1200, still around 200 fps in all areas. i don't think changing view distance is going to help.

I had this same problem on retail 2months ago,

the problem there was out dated addons, i disabled all of them and my freezes wer gone, try it

If you decrease your terrain distance it will go away.

thing is, that is the problem for some reason, make it at lowest and you wont experience the problem anymore most likely, at least i havent ever gotten one since i lowered mine

Game keeps freezing for me while pvping, 5-20 seconds. it's awful

Strange, I never get this at all when I pvp and I'm nowhere near the server's physical location...

It's client side imo. From what I've heard/read is that older versions of WoW hump at dealing with multi-core processors. Might want to decrease view distance (which I haven't done). Since I haven't done so I experience quite annoying lag and in first engagements of wPvP (later on it evens out) I can get wiped by an under equipped hordie.

And I guess Shitaji has some unknown hat-trick which he/she utilizes without even having to think about it.

Happens on every private sever I've played on and never heard of a solution other than lowering terrain distance. humps.

ok, so how far do you have to lower the distance? i kinda like to see where i'm flying/riding to...

Some anonymous information source has said something about slightly below half, but it's up to you to determine the final outcome of the changes you have to make, because for these setting to take effect might vary from user to user. Might want to have some passive testing on the issue by adjusting the bar from time to time and see how it works out.

This problem was present on my last 3 TBC servers... lowering Terrain Distance to minimum eliminated the freezes
i know this is a bit of a pain but i would rather sacrifice a bit of nice scenery than have my screen freeze every time I'm atked by a char of the opposing faction
and also... its not about how powerful your PC/Mac might be... seeing as how this is a reoccurring problem on private servers its probably an emulator glitch

It's a client problem it has nothing or very little to do with computers

I just built my latest PC about 6 months ago. happens to me almost every time pvp happens.
